    By Mike 4th September 09

The guys at T-Mobile are seeking your help to tackle a social or environmental issue we all care about.

T-Mobile have complied a list of some of the most serious issues facing society today. However, it is up to you the public to vote for what you feel is the most serious issue. Whichever issue has received the most votes by the time the online poll closes will have a new mobile application designed to raise awareness or help tackle that issue. Each session lasts for a month and the first months session is all about CLIMATE CHANGE (so get voting)!

There is also an opportunity for the creative minded among you to submit any great ideas for mobile applications that can make a positive difference to our environment and society.

Follow the link below to find out more about T-Mobile’s exciting new ideas.

  • Climate Squad on the Fourth Plinth!

    By Fil 28th August 09

If you have not already heard, members of the public have an incredible opportunity to become living art on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London.

Sculptor Antony Gormley is creating an astonishing living monument, by asking people to occupy the spare plinth for one hour, under the eyes of the passing public and the Sky Arts cameras. The representation, running 24 hours a day for 100 days, is entitled “One and Others” and enables people to become their own representation,  giving them the chance to be in the focus for a short while.

This would be a great opportunity to raise awareness of climate change, and even help  promote Climate Squad in the process.

If you’re interested, you can apply through the “One and Others” website: deadline is set on the 1st of September, and the Artwork is going to last until the end of October.

  • One minute to save the world!

    By James 13th August 09

A new competition has been launched to raise awareness about climate change and is open to anyone who feels they have what it takes to create a short 1 minute film that could “save the world”. The entry closes on the 5th October 2009 and the winning entry will be awarded a £1000 prize as well as having their video screened in selected UK cinemas, British Film Institute and at the Copenhagen Climate Conference in December.

There has been a huge variety of film entries so far, ranging from solo poetry and rhymes to intense and powerful monologues declaring that adults have known about climate change for years and have done nothing about it, now it is the time for adults to draw the line and decide whether to become either friends or enemies of kids futures.

Other entries have focused on specific problems such as aviation as the fastest growing cause of global warming; this film started with children talking about their future careers, lives and families, who then become drowned out by the sound of an aeroplane flying overhead before ending with “their future is your choice”.

This is a great way for you to use your creative skills and to express your concerns about climate change with the chance of reaching the world leaders at Copenhagen. You also have this chance by getting involved with the Climate Squad “CopArt” volunteer project that is currently underway. Here you will get the opportunity to work with other volunteers and local artists to create a piece of artwork that will be taken to Copenhagen in December. Register you interest with Climate Squad now to find out more!
